UPSC CDS Examination 2014

The UPSC Combined Defence Services Examination, widely recognized as the CDS Examination takes place two times every year in order to sign up brave and courageous officers for the national Army, Navy, and the Air force, from all over the country. The coming examination of CDS I of year 2014 is going to be conducted by the UPSC itself on February, 2013.

UPSC CDS Examination has a specific course syllabus which must be completed accordingly by the applicants to score good marks in the examination and get food recruitment. The CDS examination conducted by UPSC comprises a written based exam procedure and if the applicant is successful in clearing the examination with good results then he has to sit for a SSB Interview which basically checks the personality and brilliance of the chosen or qualified candidates.

UPSC CDS Examination procedure and pattern

The UPSC CDS Examination complete pattern and procedure is mentioned as follows:
  • There will be three sections of questions in the written examination of CDS. The sections are Basic or elementary mathematics, English, and General Knowledge. The questions of the CDS written examination are going to be of multiple choice types (objective type).
  • In CDS written exam full marks is 100 for each paper and there will be 2 hours of time duration allotted to the candidate to complete the entire paper. The applicants have to write a 2 hours paper of which questions are based on general awareness and English for Officers Training Academy, and the full marks of the question paper is 200.
  • The highest scores that is being given in the written based examination and SSB interview is going to be equal for every course i.e. the utmost marks given in the written exam and SSB interviews is 300 each for AFA, IMA, and INA. There will be maximum 200 marks for OTA as stated above.

CDS EXAM Syllabus

The level of Elementary Mathematics Section in written test paper of CDS exam will be medium (the sums will not be easy or straightforward but logical). The level of difficulty in the papers of other subjects will be same as it may be expected of a graduate from an Indian national university. The application candidates must go through daily newspapers and watch news channels and reports to keep themselves updated in all fields as far as possible to overcome the difficult questions in general knowledge section and general awareness test. However, this practice is not going to improve the candidates in English but strengthening their General Knowledge with all updated information. English must be practiced and improved by reading Spoken English books and magazines.
